My only recommendation is go there as soon as you can afford it.
The high price is because of exclusivity.If it's cheap it won't be unique.

If you go do it soon,because it will be a faeces laden,urine smelling,rubbish pit when prices go down.

Sa Pa is a perfect example.
Once a way off mountainous retreat to enjoy the sights,the weather and the minority culture.
Now it is infested with mass tourism,constant hawkers and inflated prices.

If you are indeed a spelunker,I recommend doing it soon.
