I am planing to move to Iraq, my company would be located in Basra. Can anyone tell me about the life in basra and hows the current security situation there?
I would be associated with one of the Oil company, also please update about the weather and food, etc??

Welcome to Basra. Security situation is quite good but life is pathetic. Rest of things are better like food, living etc. but you have to develop Arabic taste here i.e. without much spices & chili.

I have got a job in Basra, Iraq and likely to move in a month.
1) How safe is Basra now? (PRIMARY QUESTION)
2) Is it OK to move out leisurely in the weekend?
3) Are there any malls, cinema halls... etc to wander in the weekend?
4) Which is the preferred telephone network? How is the internet facility?
5) How is baking there? Which is the preferred bank?
