Hey jlg!
Vietnam is relatively safe and amazing place for sole traveller or a group. you should keep around 15 days for a trip i guess. because the entire vietnam is worthseeing and most of the cities from the south ( Ho Chi Minh City) till the middle ( Danang ) are beautiful with amazing scene! and you should do this travel by road...
