Vincentian cuisine

Hi,

When living abroad, tasting the local cuisine is part of discovering the country.

What is your favorite food in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines?

What is the local speciality?

Share with us the local tastes of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and why not your best recipe.

Thank you in advance,

Priscilla

Hi,

The National Dish of St. Vincent is Roasted breadfruit and Fried Jack Fish. Breadfruit is also served with other meats such as Stewed Chicken, pork, goat etc. Famously its delicious with stewed salted fish.

Callalou Soup, Ducana ( A sweet potato dumpling with coconut and other spices),  Pelau ( Also known as Pilaf),

Buss-up Shot ( Roti dough and curried meats/or potatoes/ Chana), My ultimate favorite is Pigeon peas soup with salted pigtail!

If relocating from an area such as Europe, this will be a change in taste of food for you!

Aimee.
