We have found a lovely house to rent in Pelopennese. We were informed by the local police that we need a minimum of €4000 each in a Greek bank account to apply for a residency permit
can anyone help with what we really do need we are getting so many conflicting messages.
we plan to move on October so still time to change our minds.

Hi,can I ask what nationality you are?If you are European then you dont need a permit to be here,Europeans staying permanently register at the police station which costs very little money,if you are only staying a few months you do nothing.

Generally speaking, anyone holding an American passport would need at least 5,000 euros in holdings to stay here.. as anyone from the Uk .. You don1`t need anything... to stay here..

If your buying a house here in Greece... U need a tax number...
If You buy a car here , U need a tax number....
Your passport should be enough to get a tax number especially if your buying a house here... BUT do go to your local office and ask... as things can change ..... & always get a 2ns=d opinion
