Pregnant in Cairo - tips and info please

Hi,

I am new to Cairo, having moved here from London, and am currently 14 weeks pregnant. Could you share any advice and tips on being pregnant and having a baby here?

who are the best gynaecologists for pregnancy and follow ups?
which hospitals or clinics would you recommend to give birth in Cairo? (I'll need to have a c section)
is there anything in particular I will need to ask for, or anything I should know or be aware of?

Thanks in advance.

Kirsty

Hi Kirsty4126 and welcome to expat-blog  :)

You will find a list of Gynecologists recommended by members of the Cairo forum in the Gynecologists in Cairo, you can inquire information from them.

I hope the members of the Cairo forum will soon answer some of your queries.

All the best,
Bhavna  :)

Hi, Kirsty

hope you fine  :)

Hi Kristy, U r having a best part of ur life and u r expecting a life changer for good. All the very best and my prayers r with u. I strongly recommend you to have the baby in ur home town rather than hv'g here in Egypt.

I was not a member in this website until i saw ur message.
The reason is i don't want anyone to suffer like me n my wife did for the very same reason.
I had a baby last jan 29th 2015 and was having treatment in Cairo with the Best of the Best Doctor but may be it is God's wish i lost my baby on the 10th Day. All that me and my wife went through we wish no body should go through like tht.

Anyways what happened to me may be it is only my fate and my prayers for you.
If u r willing to have the baby here in Cairo Please do not forget to notice the following point which is from my own Experience:

1) Your Husband should be Fluent in Arabic or you should have an Egyptian guy with a Car.
2) Choose a gynec who has well established hospital with all required equipment, Pharmacy & *Laboratory.
3) Choose the Dr who is all the time available in Cairo (He/She shouldn't be travelling out of the country).
4) Make sure u r placed near be to the Hospital.
5) Make sure you have enough local currency in ur hand at after 26 weeks of ur pregnancy.

All the very best keep smiling be happy and talk to ur baby keep only positive conversation around u.
May God Bless you n ur family.  :)

Hello Kristy :)

I am a gynaecologist myself.

I checked the list of recommended gynaecologists on the site and i think it's deficient.

If i'd recommend someone for you, it'd be Dr. Amr Hussien El Noury. He is an FRCOG, and the chairman of the Egyptian Representative Committee for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, and a very knowledgeable person, too. And above all, he is a very very decent person: quiet, composed and gentle.

I know he makes his deliveries in more than one hospital, which includes As-Salam International Hospital, which i believe is a fairly good hospital regarding the UK standards.

I think you should be scheduled for your 3D anomaly scan in 2-3 weeks. Kindly, don't miss it.

Inbox me if you need an advice or info.

Cheers :)
