Please tell me what is the most touristy area to stay in HCMC?
I mean easy for site seeing, shopping and local food courts.
Is home-stay popular in HCMC? If so, how will I find one?
Are taxis affordable in HCMC?
Best touristic District in HMCM? Easy for sight seeing, shopping etc.

Most touristy area is District 1.
Mainly on streets: Dong Khoi, Nguyen Hue, Le Loi, Pasteur and the area around the reunification palace as well as the Ben Thanh market. The backpacker area is called Pham Ngu Lao & Bui Vien and has more nightlife.
Taxis are low compared to many other countries but there are quite a lot of scams with taxis in the touristy area (fake taxi meter etc). Stick with Vinasun or Mai Linh taxi.
Don't know about home stay, better just book an ordinary hotel or guesthouse.

I just reached yesterday and I guess it's much better to get the hotel online as it's not that expensive, u can get comfy hotel as less as 15usd per night.
