Hi All,

I am due to out to Muscat to teach this August with my partner. He does not have a degree but will need to find a job. I have looked online but everywhere seems to want a degree or experience, or it is reserved for Omani Nationals. Can anyone point us in the right direction?

Hi ak299,

Jobs for expatriates are getting dearer by every passing day. 'Omanisation' is on overdrive.

If your read in today's (05.05.2015) 'Time of Oman', you will see that in the front page, the breaking news is that there is a concerted effort by the Majlis Al Shura to replace as many expatriates from managerial positions as possible and give those jobs to the locals - never mind they are neither qualified nor experienced to be holding those positions !

Given these hard times for expatriates, to get a job for an educationally-challenged person might prove to be a big task. Keep trying. But then you never know when luck would strike !
