Calgary but moving to Australi

Hi! New to the forum here. I was wondering if anyone could give us some advice. In early December, we're moving to Oz. We just can't decide where to settle. I'm moving with my husband and 16 month old. We're both in our mid thirties. We want to live somewhere where we can be a maximum of 20 minutes drive to the beach. We want to be close to coffee shops and restaurants (hopefully walking distance), and be in a place that feels like a "community." I've heard that Gold coast is really touristy. What do other people think? Where would be a good place for our family to settle?

Hi,

Gold coast is very (may be too touristic... for me).
There are many building along of the beach and it's a little bit same. It's mainly a place for holidays. But the GC is too big, I think you could find something interesting
You can look around the Sunshine coast. It's more wild.
