Hi,

When you are going to live abroad, you may have a lot of questions. Hence to facilitate you in this process, we are inviting expats to share their top 5 tips with regards to settling and living in the Netherlands.

What recommendations would you give soon-to-be expats in the Netherlands?

How should they prepare efficiently for their expatriation project and settling in?

Please share with us your best advice for a successful expatriation in the Netherlands!

Thank you in advance :)

Sure!

I've already written about them:

If any of that helps!

Research - read books, articles, ex-pat blogs - go back to the beginning of blogs, those first few posts when everything is very new and bewildering. Not only are you then prepared, but you know you are not alone.

Keep an open mind - the Dutch have a very liberal attitude to society and anything very much goes.

Retain your sense of humour - true for any ex-pat assignment, not just the Netherlands.

Be patient - moving anywhere is stressful but it does get better.

Find other ex-pats - as much as it is important to integrate having a few of your fellow countrymen around to share your experiences with and offer friendly advice can be a life-saver!

And finally....this is the Netherlands so if you haven't already got one, buy a bike. You may not feel like a local but at least you will look like one.  :)

great tips!
