Things take longer here.  Customer service is not a priority, and usually the first answer is no.  Be persistent and ask for a manager.

Confirm all appointments for installation for phones, internet, the day before.  Avoid BT like the plague.

If possible, open a bank account as soon as you can.  Its easier to get a contract mobile phone service that way.

The eggs are i the baking supplies aisle, not the refrigerator.

French fries are called chips and potato chips are called crisps.

My tips are mostly money saving tips for people who are moving to the UK (the transportation tip 3 is mainly for people moving to London):

1. Tip for learning the laguage: Try to speak in English as much as you can. The British accent can be a bit tricky to understand in the beginning and you may face some difficulties in communication but you just need to get used to it. If English is not your mother tongue then you may try out tandem language learning. Tandem Language Learning - learnenglishteens.britishcouncil.org/magazine/life-around-world/tandem-great-way-learn-new-language) is a method of language learning based on mutual language exchange between tandem partners and it is a great way to meet new people and learn the language in the proper way.

2. Tip for saving money on bills: If you don't watch TV don't pay for the tv licence. The moment you settle down in a new house you will start receiving letters to pay for a tv licence. If you don't watch tv then you shouldn't pay. There is a legal way to avoid paying for a tv licence. Regarding telephone calls try not to call 0870 numbers as you will end up paying a lot. There is a site called saynoto0870.com which helps you find an alternative number which will be free or way cheaper.

3. Tip for daily transportation: Daily transportation can be super expensive so you need to find ways to save money on your daily trips. First thing you should do is to get an Oyster card (account.tfl.gov.uk/oyster?App=8ead5cf4-4624-4389-b90c-b1fd1937bf1f&returnURL=https://oyster.tfl.gov.uk/oyster/security_check) and never leave the house without it as you will end up paying a lot of quids without a reason. Moreover, if you can try to use as much as you can the London buses and the overground which are cheaper than the tube. If you're the type of person that likes to travel around with a taxi you should know that cabs especially in London are super expensive and you shouldn't try to stop a cab randlomly on the street as you will need to pay a fortune. The best way is to download a taxi booking app like Kabbee or Uber and book through the app as it will be way cheaper. Finally if you travel throughout UK by train there is a great way to save a lot of money on train tickets by using raileasy's train split (raileasy.co.uk/home/split-ticketing) service. It breaks your journey into smaller sections which can be way cheaper than buying one through ticket.

4. Tip for transfering money from abroad: After opening a UK bank account you will probably want to transfer money to your brand new account. There is a website called Transferwise (transferwise.evyy.net/c/125228/170109/985) that helps you save money by avoid paying the hidden bank fees. This is a great tip.

5. Tip for everyday shopping: If you want to save money you should head to different supermarkets of your area and compare prices. Find out which items you should buy from each supermarket. For example you should buy the necessities like your soaps, your cleaning supplies or your shampoo and maybe even a pack of lighters from your local 99p Store or Poundland. These type of supermarkets have very low prices in specific items comparing to other big chains like Tesco and Sainsburys Finally don't be afraid to buy from the 'reduced to clear' section. The items are not expired or something, it's just that they will expire soon so the price will be extremelly lower than normal (sometimes up to 70-80% off).

Most of these tips (and hundreds more) can be also found through my site Brokeinlondon.com

That's all! Welcome and enjoy your stay!  :)

know you have made the right decision for the right reasons, & there is no turning back. If you remove the option of going home, it's much easier to settle in your new country. All the best

Which part of England would people coming from Southeast Asia find a "favorable", warm climate through most of the year? I assume it would be in the southern region, but what specific place would be best fit, if weather or climate is the sole consideration for living?

A silly one, but true.
When asking for 2 of anything, NEVER hold up your index and middle fingers, apart and knuckles facing out.
Serious insult in England.
