Moving to Kuala Lumpur!

Hello Friends,

I'm moving to Kuala Lumpur this April and will get a salary of about RM 5500 (RM 4070 after tax). Is it enough for a bachelor, and should I expect any saving in this amount?

Additionally, I'm looking for an accommodation on sharing basis, and would like to stay near to my office at Lorong Banjai. Any suggestions on which areas should I look for?

Appreciate your help!

Amit - I think it must be Lorong Binjai. Not many offices there as its rather an exclusive address. It has the LRT station (Ampang Park) close by so you could live anywhere on that train line. www.ibilik.my is the main place for flatsharing, but also www.mudah.com.my

Dont forget you will only be paying 25% tax for the first 6 months (take home RM4125) - I make your take home pay RM5209 after 182 days, when you are on the normal tax scale. But perhaps I dont have the full picture.

Tax steps on annual salary are:

20,001-35,000    5%  +RM750
35,001-50,000   10%  +RM1,500
50,001-70,000   16% +RM3,200
70,001-100,000   21% +RM6,300
100,001-250,000  24% +RM36,000
250,001-400,000  24.5% +RM36,750
