Work, Australia and Mauritius

Hi there

I am a dual French / Australian expatriate in Mauritius.

I have been told that, thanks to a bilateral agreement between Australia and Mauritius, Australian citizens are allowed to work in Mauritius without any restrictions (work permit, business visa, minimum wage,...), but I can't find anything on this anywhere.

Is it true or false? Can someone give me any information on this?

Cheers

Eric

Hi Eric, I have just mailed a friend to ask this question as her and her husband have  moved from Australia to Mauritius to work. Will get back to you as soon as I hear back :)

Enezeusa, who told you this?

My friend has just got back to me, they are Australian Citizens and they had to have a work permit to come work here in Mauritius almost 2 years ago - so think what you have heard maybe just a rumour ?

Contact BOI and ask them - A government Organisation like this will be able to give you any advice that you need:

http://www.investmauritius.com/faqs/occ … ermit.aspx - this page holds all the information for working in Mauritius etc

There's bilateral between each chamber of commerce; the ACCI and MCCI but that's more for businesses, not workers.

Hi Eric,
If you go to Australian High Commission-Mauritius website and click on Australia - Mauritius relationship, this tells you all you need to know, it confirms that you DO need to get a work permit plus all the other requirements others have to get to come to work in Mauritius.

Hope this helps :)
