My answer in brackets for convenience. My wife jots down our expenses on a daily basis and tallies at the end of month which is always around $500 USD. We don't rent but houses in our area goes at highest $100 USD to cheapest $35 USD/mth. We like to splurge on dinner about twice a week. Most of expenses lies in medical despite having insurance. And each month we give $100 USD to her mom.

Condo in dense expat area: 9.2mil (67m2, 2bed, 1bath, furnished)

5mil;
4mil towards groceries at a grocery store (this also includes my husband's soda and smoking addiction!) then 1mil for eating out

Expat.com wrote:

There is no budget for this. We only take my son when he needs vaccines or is sick. A consultation fee with my French doctor is 600'000, add that on top of medicine (very cheap) or vaccines (expensive)

Expat.com wrote:

None as of yet, thankfully!

Expat.com wrote:

1mil for electricity per month. (pick a place with lots of natural lighting and use fans mostly :) )

Expat.com wrote:

Internet: 300'000
No TV, phone, phone plan
Mobile minutes: Less than 200'000. Most goes to my husband's.
Maintenance fee for condo: 300'000

Expat.com wrote:

Vietnamese coffee should be around 10,000. Any lower and I'd be worried about quality.
Go to nicer cafes and it'll be more. The green tea shake I like at Coffee Bean is 100'000, so I don't get it much.  :o
