Young Australian girl with dreams of moving to Cambodia, can i do it?

First up i am a 25 year old Aussie girl from Sydney  :heart: , after spending 9 months of travel around Asia last year i absolutely fell in love with Cambodia, on returning to Aus and trying to settle back into the "normal" rat race, i am absolutely miserable!
Basically i want some advice on whether i can turn my dream of living in Cambodia into a reality? and any advice! As far as work goes, i am unsure if my husband and I's skills are of much use in Cambodia. I am a makeup artist and he is a Hairdresser! We have enough savings to set our selves up in Cambodia long enough to settle in i believe and to find work or to even open our own business. We have recently been looking at the Real estate in Cambodia, and are considering investing in a few apartments, either to re-sell or to rent out. do you believe this is wise? What areas would be appropriate in your opinion? We hope to start a family soon and are hoping for a more relaxed life style. Is raising Children in Cambodia ok, is the schooling for expets good? I am also open to home schooling.

Any help and advise would be great. I do not want to pack up and move with out being as prepared as possible.
Thanks!

From what I  have seen here, there are hundreds of hair, make-up and beauty salons, all providing services at extremely low prices. I don't see this as a great option for you. Real estate can be tricky, as Farangs (us) are not allowed to own property. You can own condominiums, as you don't own the "land". Rentals are OK, if you find a decent landlord. I have a long-term contract(lease) with a good business man, His rent is reasonable, and has gone up only $30 a month in the 4 years I have been here. I would think about Sihanoukville, as it is really booming now, becoming more a destination place than ever before. Try to contact a good English speaking attorney to help with your contacts. I  have one here, should you decide to try Snooky.

Anything is possible here.  As madmax says hair and make up here is a dime a dozen but a good one is rare!  Maybe you could set up hairdressing/beauty school?  You could rent a guesthouse and run as a business as another option (this is what we are doing atm)  Starting up here will take some money and lots and lots of effort and patience.  Most expats here will help you as much as they can.  I don't know about schooling for expats so that is something you might have to look into.  Sihanoukville is a lovely coastal town with great beaches, nightlife etc and is growing fast.  There are many many options here but I would not recommend a bar/restaurant as they are everywhere unless you can offer something vastly different and you also have to compete with casinos and karaoke clubs.  I hope you live your dream!

that would be definitely suicidal.

@Guadente

Could you please give information as to why you have replied negatively to the OP's post ??

By giving such information the OP can them make an informed decision about coming to Cambodia.

Have you had problems in Cambodia, do you know people who have had problems settling in to Cambodia.
