Hello,
I'd love some feedback on whether Alicante has a real feel of tourism and foreigners or if there is a feeling of being in a local spanish environment. Also, are there any neighboring towns that stand out as having less expats and being more pure-spanish speaking?

Yes Alicante has tourists and many hotels and attractions but the real tourist location (of Europe?) is obviously Benidorm - some 30 kms north.
Most coastal towns along the Costa Blanca have many resident Expats from all over Europe. The inland areas tend to have less but you will still find some.
