Books in English?

Most bookshops in Norway have an English language section, with a collection of English novels, typically.  Sometimes you will also find English language books on the Norwegian non-fiction shelves, too.

I see Stavanger has a Norli, so try there.  You should also try Ark and Libris.

Stavanger has a university, which means that there is a university bookshop, which should have a wide range of high-brow English-language books.

There are a few "antikk" book stores in Stavanger that are probably worth visiting on Saturday mornings.  The one that I am familiar with doesn't have many English language books, but what is there is pretty cool.

If you'd like to order books online, I'd recommend play.com. They have free shipping, and there is no customs/toll or VAT/MVA when importing books to Norway.

Other items should be valued under 200 kroner to be excempt from toll and MVA.
