A day in the life ......

I didn't go out today. I planned to go see gojek food festival at Pasaraya Blok M, shop a bit at carefour and then trying the legendary bubur ayam barito. Too bad my legs had their own mind and stopped me from going out.

Yesterday I went to Jakarta International Expo Kemayoran for Big Bang 2017, had annoying incident at ticket box. I bought the ticket online from blibli.com, unfortunately the girl and supervisor couldn't find my name on their blibli's list. I was told to call customer care which I did and got me so emotional, they insisted my ticket was valid, but the ticket box people insisted the opposite. Eventually I bought the ticket again by cash on the site, there's no way I would return home after 18 km gojek ride. Ticket incident consumed almost an hour time and more than 30% battery of my phone. I spent only 3,5 hours there and decided to leave when my battery was as low as 20%, afraid I couldn't book online ojek as I didn't bring powerbank.

Everyone on second floor is going back to their hometown to spend long holiday. I am the only person stay here, its like home alone movie in real life .....and its also Christmas. Tomorrow would be the last day enjoying the silent and freedom wearing short when going out of my room.

I got JNE customer care reply to my Twitter DM this morning, its related to my disappointment for their lack of professionalism. A package was sent to me from Yogyakarta on 12nd December, a new nice leather bag worth a month lunch. Until today the package is still missing but on their website it is said the package already received by Didi-security. I called JNE everyday but their response was unbelievably  slow. I swear from now on JNE would be my last option.

I once sent a package using a company that sounds like my sister's name, it getting around 20 KM in after a full week.
I won't be using them again.

I didn't call my sister because Jane was busy all day.

I quit responding to JNE, got text message this morning suggesting me to send confirmation text to a certain number. I am tired. Jane sounds more human, caring and interesting to interact than package service customer care.

Bed time. Tomorrow back to work again. Had a wonderful lunch at the best sushi place in town, Sushi Tengoku (Sushi heaven), awaaaay better than sushi tei, very good value of money and only 5 minutes walk from here.

One of melancholic days, sobbing for no reason.

I've just made a curry so strong it's probably illegal in some countries and must carry a government health warning in the UK.
I was a little warm before eating it but I'm going to have to take a shower now.

Yesterday was a chance to unwind, relax, chill out and generally ignore work for once so, on my way to find some things I wanted for work, I noticed this place.

Foreigners must get clearance from TNI Mabes before visiting

Apart from a lot of interesting bits, bobs and a whole wild pile of guns, they have what amounts to a very nice display of old aircraft, that including a very rare British built aircraft from more than a few years ago, one I haven't seen outside a book before yesterday.
As a bit of an aircraft anorak, the trip was worth it just for that one item.

The Skyhawk is lovely and the Mig 21 is great but the Fairey Gannet was the highlight for me.

Back home for 3 days New Year's holiday. Arrived home around 11:30 pm last night and I spent the whole afternoon taking nap.

Today I did things I couldn't do for 1,5 months; watching tv, turning on the stove, cooking instant noodle, eating pempek, sleeping on the best micro fiber pillow. I am surprised I could survive without them for 1,5 months :D

I watched 5 episodes of “Westworld” in a row from HBO Signature, not a bad tv show.

2017 is gone, 2018 is with us so I'll be making mistakes on forms as usual for the next month.
There are several advantages to not boozing, the saved cash, not having clothes that stink like and ash tray and, best of all, no hangovers.
Happy new year.

Had unpleasant night flight on first day of 2018. On way from airport now and still thinking what I was thinking during the flight. I want to be a better person, nice and kind to everyone,  hopefully :)

What do you mean "night fight"?

Flight ☺️

Easy day,

My missing package has arrived,

New year's resolution: sleep early :)

I used to make new year resolutions but I stopped because I always failed so saw little point.
Last year I resolved to get three more wives, all fresh graduates about 22 years old, very pretty and all infatuated with me.
That didn't happen so I'm not making one this year.

I'm in work today, setting up the technical bits and bobs, then doing a bit of jiggery pokery to make it all work if anything flops.

HAHahaa

Curious when was your resolution's deadline...and the evaluation before it was declared as failed

2018 resolution was from 2017 resolution: to have resolution in 2018.

68% easy day today
Trying to sleep now...

I first made that resolution about 1996 and every year since so I tend to expect to fail, that meaning the cut off is usually about 8am on the first of January.

Hahaaha

Should really sleep now, tomorrow get up on 2:30 am for 6 am flight to Pekanbaru, will be my first time visiting that city. Too bad its work related and only 2 days. 😴😴😴

Best thing happened today was when the Hotel upgraded our rooms, We are staying in Pangeran (Prince) Hotel, seems popular here.

My diet plan ruined as tonight I had dinner twice. Once with manager and next when I told manager I wanted to look around the souvenir shop not far from hotel......alone. I secretly Ordered fried sagoo noodle from gojek and had it delivered to the souvenir shop. People from branch office said sagoo noodle is specialty dish from Pekanbaru and its a must try. Sagoo noodle looks like vermicelli but ticker and more elastic. Taste not bad and very cheap.

I am really frustrated now my tummy is too big, I gained 1,7 kilo after New Year's holiday.  In 2-3 weeks time I am planning for annual leave and meet a guy. Hope this should be enough reason to motivate me to work on this fat tummy 😬 I want to impress him 🤪

The world, or at least my bit of it, has gone mad.
Work is silly busy and I have a little flu or a bad cold so I've been feeling yukky.
My work social media time has skyrocketed for a series of reasons and I have a load of other work related stuff on my plate.
I don't expect things to be back to normal until at least March or May - Arrrggggg!

Few days ago was my birthday, I got so many wishes and greetings sent to my email from credit cards, online shopping and newsletters. Thanks for remembering, I am flattered  :D

I need to go out sending package but its raining here. I am selling my camera 😂 need some good money....

I'm also going to sell one of my cameras .. if I every bother advertising it.
Problem is I'm too lazy to mess about with ads and the usual fuss with arguing prices and all that stuff so it's just sitting in a drawer doing not a lot.
Work is still mad and I've just taken on even more - I'm busy, very, very busy.
I'm going to find a moment to go for one of my wanders but I'm not sure when as I work all week, I'm mostly busy on Saturdays doing family stuff and I've been spending most of my Sundays doing work related stuff. I'm only on here at the moment because I'm waiting for a Youtube video to upload - Yep, a work video for work social media.

Some slightly good news, I get a day off from the norm in a week or so when I visit an art exhibition ... for work.

Hahaha... that is me from Monday to Friday...and weekend when I have projects. I do have 3 pending projects at work but it depends on other unit and next week none of people from risk unit available.. lalalaala

I am very generous in selling my camera. I even let the girl pay me installment for 3 months. I have sent the camera package to my old office and she cannot wait. Next month hopefully I will have new dream camera, when office pays my annual leave allowance 😊

Waiting physiotherapy session at PIM2 now

Aaah life is good...

I love my cameras but practicality has to win over what I really want.
I'd love a serious SLR with a wide selection of lenses, a very nice movie camera and all the bits and bobs that go with them .. oh, and a top end drone.
However, I do street snaps and that means I have to be mobile so I use a Canon SX720HS with 40x optical zoom, a Gopro 3 with LCD backpack  and my Samsung C9 Pro smartphone as required.
I have two other cams, one being an Olympus with 21X optical zoom and a Samsung with 60x optical but I hardly ever use either of them.
I really should get around to selling the last two but I probably won't bother.
Today sees me prepping for some work things and looking after a few social media posts, something that'll take me a few hours as I have to edit videos, select photos and consider the theme for the post and angle I want to approach them from.

I love my cameras and I keep an eye on the tech news to see what's coming up. One thing I often kick myself about is missing action because I couldn't get my camera out in time but, with this baby, I can get the shots before I even press the record button.

I wonder how much it costs and if I can hide it from my wife.

Quick question for you Amigo...keeping in mind your expertise with cameras.

Why is it that the latest models of smart phones often produce better quality jpegs than a top brand digital camera?

Mostly, the user.
Top end cameras are capable of wonders but are junk in the hands of the clueless.
Phones are point and shoot so much easier to use.

However, my opinion is suspect as I'm not an expert, more a street snapper with a half reasonable eye.

Stephen Wayda recently moved into the Ubud area and we've become friends.  It's hard to imagine a more professional photographer than him, and you know what?  He takes his daily "walk about shots" with his smart phone.  There are a number of those shots on his web site:

Love the elephant :D

I'll take a look at the link in more detail a little later.

Where and how does one hide a camera 🎥 and all the accessories from the wife including the glorious cheeky grin on ones face that says “I'm hiding something hehehe” oh those boyish good Anglo Saxon looks will not save you my friend.  Where and how indeed?

Easy for an experience liar and cheat such as myself.
The camera is a compact so, other than the USB charger, there's only the camera to hide and I do that in open view.
My previous compact was black and small, and my new camera is black and small so I simply popped it into the same type of pouch as the old one and that was that. My wife looked, looked again as she thought there was something different but I totally ignored he gaze and carried on as normal.
She assumed it must be the same as I hadn't reacted so I got away with it.

My other favourite trick is to buy something but get the store staff to pop a sale sticker on the box with a very cheap price. My wife sees it, assumes I spent a lot of money (I pay the normal price), but then sees the sale sticker and thinks I got it really cheap.
Not a quack quack to be had. :D

My handsome, Greek god, like face never gives me away.

What a rattler of a day. I was on the second floor (Third if you're American) when I noticed the building was doing a little dance, the sort of shuffle you'd expect a swaying drunk to do so, in my infinite wisdom, I strolled downstairs.
Not so bad really and not a lot to get your knickers in a twist over but it seems a lot of people in Jakarta were ruffled.

My first earthquake in Jakarta. Heard a bit of loud noisy behind me like when people drop things and the floor waving, thought it was my team leader and colleague throwing ordner/bantex files on floor as they were looking for old documents. But it kept happening and every one in the room started standing up. I felt dizzy. We decided to got out the room, more than 100 people were standing in front of lift but some already went down by emergency stairs. Some people and I watched our neighborhood buildings from huge glass window. Then security said please make your way to ground floor to anticipate aftershock, luckily we were allowed to use the elevator. Less than a minute from 15th floor to the ground. I recorded the crowd and shared the video on social media with my old colleagues back home, instead of worrying, they made fun of me .......

The problem with lifts if they get stuck if the electricity fails so, in the event of fire or earthquake, take the stairs or you could end up a little more dead than you were in the morning.

I'm assured death ruins your evening dining plans.

True,

We didn't think much of the danger, just wanted to be on the ground as fast as possible especially when there are pregnant women, and the security shoossh us. We thought the lift already shutted down, but it wasn't and the guy wanted to evacuate the floor immediately. Imagine how people on 30's floor panicking. Maybe thats why board of directors and Vice Presidents offices are on second floor

I'm hungry so i ordered pizza but, just after I'd tapped the last key on my phone, the heavens opened.
This probably means the delivery will be longer than 30 minutes so they have to give me a voucher for a free pizza.

8 minutes to go ... tick tock, tick tock ... will they make it on time or make me smile?

Rats - they were three minutes early.

What a day - No free pizza and my WA has lit up with an Adidas scam, scammers so bad their fake site gets the spelling of Adidas wrong.

Work is still mad as a spoon with extra jobs being tossed onto my desk all the time.
I'm also doing daft amounts of work on the company social media accounts and a bunch of other stuff so I'm seriously creamed again.
Friday was a red day so I had a day off, sort off. I spent all day on the computer, mostly doing work stuff.

I chilled last night and much of this morning, watching a bunch of documentaries about London and other stuff such as the wars of the roses and the succession of William of Orange, the forgotten invasion.

I live a strange life but I still have a little 'cool' left in me so I just watched ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_IWlPHMziU

Enjoy at a volume most health officials and ear specialists would vomit at.

What a crazy ride this week has been.
I'm overworked as usual, but got a load of stuff done on my sick day
I went to watch the new death wish film yesterday afternoon. Jack is a very bad boy.
The original was a tough act to follow but Willis did a wonderful job and the graphic of a dude's head exploding like a grape in a meeting a hammer was sheer genius, the blood splatter being the best I've seen since Chucky's victim left the car and got squashed by a lorry.
Go watch it, it's excellent.

Still at work
And I am speechless

We have fitness center at the office basement, I will submit my membership form tomorrow and start day 1. I am flat broke after Australia trip, I have bought a pair of cheap running shoes yesterday, it was 50% and costed me $18. So determined to lose 5 killos weight of my stomach. Today I had pizzza and wing stop, really bad. I don't want to scale my weight, pretty sure I gained few killos more after my trip. Almost every day we had midnight meal, pizza, lebanese platter, custard, snack....so crazy.

Just noticed this place is only apx 3 km straight line from my office !! Just passed it on way back to office
