No worries, there are many expats here. I am living in my campus, at times on my way back to dorm, it gives me a delusion that I was abroad. Many international students here. Apart from students, you can also find many foreign people working here. Maybe most of them are living in Kaifaqu or something. I guess it's easy for you to associate with some. If you need, I will go to my American friends to ask how you can get in touch with more expats.

Huh, Dalian is not an empty city as you might have expected, right :
Teaching jobs are offered from some English institutions, I have American friends applying for weekend teaching jobs, not sure yet if that really works.
Anyway, if you want to meet more expats, you can try your luck at some downtown bars, my friend is even a member in a band there.
