Hi from Cairo

Hi everybody!

I'm a newcomer to Cairo, Egypt. I'm from Spain and I'll be staying here for a while.

It would be cool if anyone could show me around, specially those not very touristic places, nightlife, etc.

Is there any special place where expats meet?

Thank you and hope to see you around!

Welcome on Expat-blog elhector! I've moved the topic on the Cairo forum.

Good luck!

Thank you all for your warm welcome!

Thanks ottawagirl for your recommendation. I'm already checking the web site! Do you know if there are expats meetings or something similar in Cairo?

OLA! Welcome to Egypt!

Congrats on Spain's Win!!!!

ALRIGHT!!!Let me give you all the 111 on places in Cairo!

- Chill out time or place by the Nile, would be Sequoia in Zamalek.

- Nice Diner where you are bound to meet some foreigners is; La Bodega in Zamalek

- Sangria is another place to go to chill out and have drinks.
(reservations need to be made Thursdays and Fridays)
Opposite the Conrad hotel and world trade center.

Club 35- Four Seasons Giza is a very snobby dance club!
(need to call ahead of time for reservation and approval, great place for celebrety spotting)

Tamari is another HOT spot for celebrety spotting and RESERVATION, RESERVATION, RESERVATION.
- Cairo Jazz for live Music.

- After 8 for Live Music and diner

- Purple is a place for dancing

- Stilleto for Salsa dancing on Sundays.

NB- All of these places will probably not be 'FUN' to go to once Ramadan, the Islamic month of fasting starts. So, I would wait till after the Eid El Fitr feast.

Welcome to Egypt :)

Its just like IrishAlex said :)

Ramadan starts next Wednesday & there won't be probably any "FUN" activities from the 10th of AUG till the 10 th of SEP.

But ppl tend to makeup for that during the Fitr feast & go all out :P

Thank you, IrishAlexandrian, for all the tips.

I will try to visit some of them, although it can be hard to get in without girls in the group, doesn't it? At least we had some problems at Cairo Jazz Club and Sangria.

Anyway, we'll have to wait till the end of ramadan.

Shukran awi!

During Ramadan,Try Cairo at the night, really AMAZING;)
olso u can check TravBuddy for some local friends to show you around
