New members of the French Polynesia forum, introduce yourself here

Hi all,

Newbie on the French Polynesia forum? Don’t know how to start?

This thread is for you ;)

We invite you to introduce yourself on this topic, to share with us your expat story if you are already living in the country, or to tell us more on your expat projects in French Polynesia if you are planning to move there.

It will enable us to help you better but above all to wish you a warm welcome.

Welcome on board!

Hi guys my name is CENWYN and I am from Canada !!!!!! I'm currently training to become a pilot and hopefully I can get a working visa to fly in French Polynesia. Iv been doing a tone of research and I'm so excited !!!!!!!! I am currently 17 and hopefully in 4 years I will have bought a house and settled in. I am trying to learn Tahitian and I am currently fluent in English and French

Hey!
My name is Tanja, I'm Swiss but living with hubby and our three kids  (3/7/9) in France - basically in the forest. We're a homeschooling family and are free to move any time.
Since it's French Polinesia - does the same law apply for IEF (Instruction En Famille // Homeschooling)?
We're very nature and easy going. But…internet is a must (my work).
I'm a certified (trigger- sports- and classical) massage therapist and I speak fluently D/E/F. My husband is photographer but we're FREE.
I have no clue which island would best be suited since the idea of "swimming out from our comfort zone" pupped up yesterday.

It's meant to be a life experience for our family, maybe with another destination after this. We plan to stay at least 6-12 months.
Any hints and advices are welcome. Thank you!

Hi All,
Doesn't seem that it's a very active forum :) but I really hope that somebody will reply :) I am a new member, my name is Laura. I live in Lithuania at the moment with my family (husband and 2 kids 13y / 1y), but we have business in USA, and spent some time living over there.  We spent our holidays in French Polynesia and after some time decided that we would like to relocate to this paradise.  So I am just looking for general information or maybe people who relocated many years ago and have experience how to do it :) Who could help me with information and maybe some contacts or advices :)
Thank you in advance!

IaOrana Laura,
I retired in Papeari Tahiti after I sold my business in the USA. I've been here a number of years and really love it. There are some things you have to get used to. My Tahitian friends have given me a Tahitian name, Manarii, and, of course, a nice tattoo. I would highly recommend that you vacation here for a few months before you commit to a move. Rent a place in the district that you think you want to move to. That way, you can see if it still acceptable to you.
Nana,
Steve (Manarii)

Thanks for the answer! Well we were thinking about renting a house also.. probably we will try that. But we are sure that we are gonna move to some islands, so French Polynesia is the best we could find so far.  We are thinking about the period of maybe 5-7 years. So we already start looking for some land, or at least some broker who could start working on searching the land, also looking for maybe some company which could build a house. Trying to find out about the costs for all the relocation and also documentation if needed.

Hi everyone, like everyone here, I am looking to move with my family to the french Polynesia. Interested in either Moorea or Papeete. I live in Barcelona currently and a member of the EU. I would like to know info on the requirements ect to go there. Any info would be of great help.

I would not have any issues with working in any area in particular, i speak both English and Spanish fluently. My wife, English,Spanish, Catalan and French fluently.
