Visa Run to Malaysia

Hi,
I have a motorbike and was thinking of doing an over-land visa run to Malaysia, but I've heard a couple people say that there's a 500THB fee to cross the boarder. Is there any truth to this?

Also - some friends have got 30 day visas like this, but I was under the impression that they'll only give 15 days via a land crossing. Any clarification would be helpful - thanks!

G8 countries citizens now get 30 days visas when crossing Thai /Malaysian border by road. No charge but you have to get insurance that is valid and at the border you "import" the bike using registration documents. Return them when leaving and don't loose them or else you confiscate your bike.
