Once a month Glasgow Expats Meetup meets to discover a different part of town.
For November we'll go to the ever vibrant and very musical Sauchiehall street, to the Saramago café bar of the CCA.
The Centre for Contemporary Arts is an art venue and gallery, café, and cinema. It hosts exhibitions, performance arts, concerts and DJ sets, publishes a quarterly magazine dedicated to creative and experimental writing and is an artist residency.
They also have a design shop, a book shop and a great veggie café bar.
In their latest Eating and Drinking Guide, The List reviews the Saramago Café:
"... this spacious café-bar attracts a predictably bohemian clientele in evenings, with workers and young families hanging out during the day, especially on Saturdays. Despite the cavernous space and clean, modern lines, there's a sense of intimacy music is never intrusive and tables are laid out far enough apart that diners can exist on their own private island. The menu is free from animal products but this isn't really a feature, the focus is more on Mediterranean and Middle Eastern flavours in dishes that happen to be suitable for vegan diets. Starters, or tapas, are notable for their invention and colour..."
See you there!
