Cost of Living in Mumbai 2013

Hello all,

I was offered a job pays me 60,000 INR in an office in Mumbai. Accommodation is offered as a private room. I will pay 10,000-15000 INR for expenses. Basically, I will get 45,000 INR every month. There is company car from apartment to work and It is very close, I have been told. I have a health benefit and one return ticket to my country for every year. How do you think I can manage with that money in Mumbai? thank you!

If you are getting Rs.45000/- in hand with co. provided accommodation it should be possible for you to lead and live a dignified life in Mumbai if you don't waste it on night life, gambling and partying etc.

Thank you for your message Naval.

I am not a party guy but I am interested in seeing around of course, maybe 1-2 nights out in a week. etc., visiting suburbs. You don't have a chance to live and work in India everyday :) thank you again.

Hi Bangor,
If you compare Mumbai with cities in Turkiye ,then it is more like Istanbul rather than Ankara.

It is not impossible to survive in Mumbai with that money, but there does not seem to be a great saving potential in this offer.

Welcome to the Istanbul of India.

Hi Arthand,

Well, I thought so, regarding the cities. I am getting almost same amount in Turkey, but I will have a chance to see and live in India. This is how I look at the situation :) If it becomes really challenging than I have to figure out something else. thank you for your message.

Hello Stumpy,

I will certainly do, thank you for your message.

An year in India(Mumbai-MMR with at least 15 million people is a vast market for food products)can give you an advantage which can not be taken away when you seek another assignment.

A travel company is selling Turkiye as destination for the leisure segment and the last time I heard about they are doing well for themselves.

The world is shrinking.Indians have started to go to Izmir for buying marble.

I do not know your specialisation, skill sets but if you need an organisation of your own to self actualise or otherwise,I think an exposure to this part of Asia will be of help.

Looking forward to having best Indian tea brew without milk with you when in Mumbai.

Hi Bangor,
What u want to do in Rs 45,000? You have to take care of food and other monthly expenses.
A simple food costs u around 200 per meal in a good restaurant
A very good restaurant will be Rs 1000 - Rs.1500 for 2 people with a beer
Taxis are affordable for you - 30km will cost u around 600 in a AC taxi, normal taxi will be Rs.400. Thats what u will need during week ends
Laundry will be around Rs 20 - Rs.30 per piece - wash and press; depends where u live
Maid servant will be around Rs.800 per month
Movie tickets are around Rs.300 - Rs 400 per show
what else u need? Actually in Mumbai u have a wide variety for everything, so you can also have a meal at Rs.50 & movie at Rs.100 depending on the time and theatre.

So u should be able to maintain quite well in Mumnbai, I have been here for the past 15 years,

Hi
