Civil engineer in profession but iqama written as mechanic

Hello everyone please give me some advise what to do.

here my questions:
Do I have to change my position written on my Iqama?
Is it my responsibility or by my employer?
Do the Saudi Government will penalize me?

Please I would appreciate your help.

Changing your profession is the responsibility of your employer, however if there are no visa slots available and that is why you were registered as mechanic , you have to wait for those slots to open. Being registered as a mechanic does restrict your movements in and out of the kingdom to a degree because your will not be able to get a multiple entry and exit visa. Rectify your status as soon as possible. Hope this helps a bit.
