I am considering a two month stay in Tanzania as I telecommute for work, so I'm able to have an extended stay. I was wondering what type of accommodations would be the best choice. Not really sure which part of Tanzania either.
Is there high speed internet and what is the telecom system like? Do they have MagicJack, Vonage or similar for making calls back to the US. Most of my day is spent on the phone.
I appreciate any advice that anyone can provide.

Major cities in tanzania has 3G networks with average speed depending on the bundles you enroll. I guess the best option to call US is to use a latest android device with majic jack app installed in it.
It is the best solution as I do the same to call my wife in US.
Calling cards are alternative solution to call US. Nymgo, MobileVOIP, Net2Phone..... very cheap call rates/ min.
The above options are for mobile devices.
For laptops and PC you could use a USB modem of Zantel, Airtel or Vodacom.
For accommodation, check with local hotels as they might give you a good offer. Some hotels even have a guest house like for $1000 per month.
