Places to visit in Houston

Hi,

For the ones living in Houston, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in Houston, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in Houston?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

Julie

Here are my top places to take visitng friends/family (in no particular order):
-NASA complex
-Kemah Boardwalk
-Moody Gardens
-St. Arnold's Brewery Tour
-Museum of Natural Science (depending on what exhibits they have at the time)
-Galveston beach
-Collector's Firearms (Richmond and Fondren)
-Local music concerts
-Local festivals (search Google to see if there are any good ones)

Houston also has a pretty good theater district, so if you are into symphonies, musicals, dance, etc. that is good to check out. I usually don't bring people there unless they will enjoy it though, because it is not as cheap as some other options. Houston also has some of the best places to eat in the country. Because of all of the international influence of the city, you can find excellent food from almost any country here. My in-laws are Vietnamese, and when they come we are able to shop at Vietnamese markets and eat at Vietnamese restaurants.
