Places to visit in Cardiff

Hi,

For the ones living in Cardiff, what would you suggest to discover the region?

When you have friends or family visiting you, where do you go with them? What are the must-see places in Cardiff, the tourist sites?

How to visit the region in an original way? Any unusual or unknown place to recommend?

What would you suggest for a couple of days of for a week of holidays in Cardiff?

Thank you in advance for participating ;)

In the city centre you have Cardiff Castle and Millennium stadium, Both good places for photos
On the outskirts of the City you have St fagans Meuseum of Welsh life, this has various buildings that have carefully been moved to the area that are old. Some are fully furnished and as they were a century ago. Plus nice features for a day out.
You also have Cardiff Bay and the Cardiff Barrage both worth a visit.

Other castles close to the city are caerphilly castle and Castell Coch

The Brecon Beacons National park is stunning in summer, and great fun in winter when it snows, many people take their children to sledge down the mountainside. In summer a walk to Pen Y fan ( Highest peak of Brecon beacons ) offers stunning views.
The Garrison town of Brecon Is about 35 miles from Cardiff and has the borders museum. This has a lot of stuff from the hawkes drift battle ( Zulu film)

November the 5th is bonfire night and normally on the weekend around that date we have Sparks in the Park.
So if in Cardiff around that time go and watch a spectacular fireworks display.

For those that like to party the main streets on weekends are around St marys st. There is another area frequented by students by the Hilton hotel.

Roath park and victoria park are both great for kids, the former very nice for adults to enjoy park.
There is a large indoor pool with great water slides near Cardiff bay and an ice skating rink at same location.
