As an american in Sweden and have been living here for the last 16 years. I can say that the most important thing to do to succeed here is to LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!! NO ifs about that. I work as a University teacher and never would have landed this job if it wasn't because I learned the language and fast. Sure, swedes speak English, the majority anyway, but if you are going to live and work here for an extended period of time then you NEED to learn the language!!

Yes that is true - there are very few professions that are entirely English speaking such as multinational companies (IT or otherwise).

It is like that in much of Europe - although places such as Geneva and Bruxelles are exceptions to the rule.

Hi Monik.nyren.

I am hoping to move to Stockholm in December. I was looking at doing an intense Swedish course. Can you recommend any to me? Where to do this course? And approximately how much it would cost?
