Philippines health care

I was wondering if there is a public health care system like here in the USA or is it only private drs?
I ask since my fiancee resides in leyte/samar area and is in need of a operation due to a health problem that has arose from her employment at a chemical, factory.
Any insight thoughts are greatly appreciated........
I also plan to move there maybe as soon as this year(2010).

Sorry to hear about your fiancee's predicament. Yes we do have some type of public health care system, depending on whether her employer paid their dues. But, you might consider going to a private doctor to be sure of a quality treatment. What kind of operation does she need? She needs to seek the particular doctor specializing on whatever are she needs operation on. Leyte has a good hospital and the nearest biggest city I could think of is Cebu which has one of the best hospitals in Visayas. Are you willing to pay for her medical expenses? We have a Comprehensive Lifecare Network, so we can ask around for best package deals for her surgery if you want.

Let me know your plans of moving here so I can get you prepared before you leave. There are documents that you will need before you leave so that you will come prepared.

Sincerely,

Is it skin related? Cebu which is a boat away does have some specialist clinics. The question on the side of medical needs if she hasn't got it yet I would recommend getting Philhealth won't cover all your expenses but it does pay a percentage and the card is pretty cheap I think last time we got one was P1,200 which is a good investment.

Regarding "papers" as the person above I have noticed posted on several posts *Go to the Philippines Embassy website for information or speak to Expats you will get the information for free*

if she is employed, yes she is covered with PhilHealth and if she's connected with MNCs then some have their own medical insurance with higher rate of coverage.

i hope she's alright now.
