Ramadan Charity

I know it is a bit early for Ramadan talk, but here goes.

Does anyone know of any charity groups looking for help (physical help as well as monetary)? Or any orphanages?

Charities which allow non-Arabic speakers and non-Muslims are a plus. Charities which work with widows and orphans are an even bigger plus. And for me, personally, charities in Riyadh are great (though I am hoping for outside Riyadh charities to also be mentioned for those of you not in Riyadh).

There is this group, but I have not contacted them yet:

I am seeking other similar groups.

hi
thanks for your doing
can you tell what you looking for

In an ideal world I would like to adopt or foster orphans. Especially special needs (children with physical disabilities, dwarfism, missing limbs, and mental disabilities). But that is a tricky subject here and I lack wasta. (I come from a family with most of my siblings were adopted in via fostering and are special needs, so I have much experience.)

I would like to work with orphans; reading, spending time with them, donating clothing/food, or even helping clean/cook.

so
I can suggest you to go to the Society ensan for orphans
Morning time where there is a social specialist
And you can coordinate with him

Do they allow women in? Where is it?

i do not know but i think they have women branch
contact them by this email
[email protected]
i thought you are man so i told you to go to men branch
i am sorry

I'll have a friend who speaks Arabic contact them on my behalf. Thank you!

Good info.  Thanks!

There is a group based in Jeddah called YIG (Young Initiative Group). During Ramadan, with the help of around 80 volunteers, they distribute hot food to the poor and needy in the lesser known areas of Jeddah, just before Iftar( time for breaking fast) everyday. This is called "Iftar Sayem" and now in it's fourth year. They are frequently featured in the local English-newspapers.

Going by their past events, they have done many other events including working with orphans, re-building schools, autism awareness, Jeddah clean-up campaigns etc. to name a few.

Their website is currently being re-designed http://www. y-i-g.org/

But you can check out their facebook profile for photos of their past events and contact them through FB.

Their primary language is English and I am a regular volunteer for them during Ramadan. There is a good mix of foreigners and Saudis, working as volunteers with them.

This is the link to one of their videos on YouTube: http://www. youtube.com/watch?v=oAVUG-Zfeb4

PS. Thanks for starting this thread. I would love to hear more about other groups. If only there was a way to link this topic to the discussion forum of every city in Saudi Arabia. (hint to mods ;) )

Hi hishmaj,
