I need cheap safe rental by the month. Currently I have an offer from Ed-ex but I continue to look as I know Ed-ex's reputation. (My last Employer literally tried to steal my passport, I will never give ed-ex or anyone my passport.) Also, are there places to camp all over Saudi?

I see only two possibilities: the furnished service apts., as mentioned, or a roommate situation (which are sometimes offered in the classified section).

Depends if the price of said furnished apartments comes within the housing allowance he's been offered of course.
Loads of tutors came here from countries where they had to survive to afford rents. They never expected to do so here, but are going to have to get used to it. With the six month leasing minimum, many tutors are finding they are being shifted round the country, from job to job, unable to afford rent within their allowance.
