Sadara supervisor salary and benefits package

hi all,

been offered a job at sadara as gc 14 general supervisor ii based in jubail and was wondering if i could pick your collective brains to make sense of this offer.  i'd love to move back to the middle east with my wife and child but not encouraged by the numbers or their recruitment team.  it took them 4 months to send me the offer and it was only 1 page without any t&c's or benefits listed!!

per month its basic 30k + trasnport 2k + housing 7.5k = sar 39.5k
annual bonus of 30k + welcome allowance of 30k (arbitrary numbers??)

1.  is it in line with the us/uk payscale for similar roles?
2.  how much room is there to negotiate do you think?
3.  what's the usual housing allowance in this category?  and how much would i need for a good 3br villa in a good compound?
4.  how much annual leave is the norm?

thank you very much for your time and valued thoughts!!

umm... yeah.   thanks anyway buddy.

You'll need to provide more info to get comments that make sense. What is your field, education, experience, citizenship, etc...

If you're Saudi, why would you want to know what westerners get paid?  You know that your nationality has *everything* to do with salary in KSA.

In other words, if you're not western, you won't get the same salary, be it higher or lower.

hey expatpro,

I'm a Saudi and my field is logistics and trading, BSc:Finance and MA:BA from the US, about 13 years experience working in US, UK, Saudi and Singapore with oil majors only.

I used to work for Aramco for a number of years but then moved to pursue a challenging career in the private sector with better growth prospects.  It was a right move for me but now that i have my own family we are considering the possibility of moving back.  On paper, even after factoring in the tax reduction i would be taking a 15 pct paycut if i accepted their offer!!

Any thoughts? :)

Hey Alliecat

Thats a very good question!  Its a well known fact that salaries in Saudi are partially determined your nationality and I think it would be useful for everyone to know the pay distribution for a specific job.  If you know the upper, lower and the mean then wouldn't that help you to negotiate a better salary??  Transparency works for the benefit of the greater good and should be helpful to anyone considering a move to Saudi (I hope!).

Howver, I can see your point since living/working here in singapore expats receive considerably more than locals... but nationality (ie. western or chinese) is irrelevant.  what matters here are your qualifications and your salary.

Let me know your thoughts and thanks for your input!! :D

It's what should matter everywhere, my friend!  Not nationality, skin color and/or gender.  But we know that's not the case in Saudia.

Actually, I'm not sure if you'd make more or less being a national.  I am paid way more than some and way less than others (ironically, it's the people I'm paid more than who work a lot more than the people I'm paid less than--directors!).

Anyway, best of luck :)

much appreciated alliecat!  very curious to know what you do in saudi and how long you been living there.  irony and oxymorons seem to crop everywhere in the kingdom hence the need for transparancy.

enjoy the rest of your weekend!

why don't you just compare it with your current pay, and if its more attractive, get it...

rest of details will be clear later on,

good luck

@frazzla - Looking at your situation, I would say go ahead and negotiate for a salary that is at least matching the one you're getting now. Considering the existing system here, there's a very good chance for you to get an upper hand to get a better offer due to your nationality/experience/current salary. Working on home turf should benefit you more in that sense, right?

Nationality and salary - this is always a hot topic, but I personally think it is normal/acceptable for local citizens to get better remuneration working for local ventures in their home country, compared to non-locals. It is part of the home turf benefits.

And for the rest of us non locals - unless we were forced to sign the contracts - guess we should just honor them and limit the "geer-geer". :/

actually in your case you will need at least 80,000 riyal to find good villa in jubail these days
any way i am real estate agent if you needed any help you can contact me [email protected] -- 0544615194

No!    I am an expat working on the Sadara project in Manila,  Sadara is low pay low scale,  I will not be going to Jubail,  what they offer is lowest of the low!! My advice is too turn ot down!!

My husband is currently in the process of recruitment for the Sadara Chemical Company. They have  indicated he would be a supervisor for a new polypropylene plant that is to be completed in 2015.  He has 35 years experience, and is excited by the prospect. They have also indicated they would like him to bring his family. He has completed the application process, and we are waiting for the proposal.
Does anyone have any information about Sadara as an employer, and where the families live who work for this company? I realize they are a new company, and any information regarding benefits and the general satisfaction of employees would greatly help us make this life changing decision.

I have accepted an offer as supervisor for LDPE unit. Currently waiting for visa to be completed and hope to travel soon. I am looking forward to this opportunity and am anxious to meet new people from different cultures. I will be coming over as bachelor to start out then my wife will come in a year or two. Details so far for me have been pretty vague and hopefully after visa goes through I will recieve more detailed info. This will be my first experience abroad and any advice would be greatly appreciated. Has anyone been assigned housing location yet?

I will be joining SADARA soon. Can you email me at [email protected] and we can share some experience?

@bd64 housing will be in Al Jude 2 which is currently being finished. Will be a very large compound but not much info on it is available yet. I have a post on the housing forum that I will update with info as and when I find out.

Does any body knows about the Visa process for Sadara being hired from Toronto (Canada) after job offer accepted.

they will ask you to contact their visa agent - visaenterprise for the visa application. Only Saudi Embassy's authorised agents can apply for visa and VisaEnterprise is one of them. Check Visa Enterprise's website. It has all the information / documents you need before applying for the visa. Visa Enterprise will not help get these documentations, you will have to do by your own, but they will apply the completed pacakge with the Saudi Embassy on your behalf. Let me know if you have more Questions.

Yes they told me to contact visa enterprises in Ottawa but i am waiting for the visa to arrive as its still under process might come to know by the end of the week hopefully!! but i have done the paperwork everything is ready forms are filled along with police clearance its only the medical which has to be done i am waiting for the visa to arrive to start the medical process to be in the safe side.

Hi Everyone,
I am going to join Sadara and I would like to know how grading system works in Sadara.
May I know grade 14 is equivalent to what level of Engineer?
May I know grade 13 is equivalent to what level of Engineer?
May I know grade 12 is equivalent to what level of Engineer?

In addition to that what are the salaries for South Asia peoples in Sadara.

Earliest response shall be highly appreciated.

Sameer

Dear Sameer,

It is a bit complicated scene here. Depending on so many things. Any how, Engineer 1 is senior postion than 2, 3 and 4. I mean Engineer-4 is the starting.

In Which grade are you joining? How much total experience and how much gulf? If you can tell me this, I can tell you approximate basic.

Regards,

Hi I am indian having 11 years of experience in IT infrastructure services. would you please let me know the benefits and salary for IT analyst role in sadara ?

Also what is the lifestyle, actually I am married and want to come with my family.

goyal

Hi all. I am a newbie to this forum and am finding all the posts on Sadara very useful. Have been offered a position in Sadara through AECOM. Need clarity on a couple of things and hence requesting help:
1) Is this kind of indirect offer ok ? How is Aecom  as an Employer?
2) What are the benefits that I may lose out on in this arrangement?
3) When do I resign from my present job as I need to serve 6 week notice? After I get my visa?

Good afternoon Peeps,
I was wondering whether Sadara housing for families are furnished or not ? If so what is the quality of the furniture?
How are the new compounds ?
Is everyone guaranteed a spot ?
Thanks

Sadara family compounds are good and yes they are furnished with reasonable quality furniture. There is no guarantees but no one has not got housing yet. Still apartments and villas available on various compounds. Send me an email and I can give you more info on the compounds photos etc.

Hi Every one

I am a canadian and recently attended a interview with SADARA and they offered GC 11 position as inspection specialist.

I need to get some more info if you know, What is the level 11 Mean in the organization? Is it equivalent to Engineer or Sr.Engineer?
What is the minimum  base pay for western expat can get for this level?
Do they give any vehicle loans to purchase vehicle?
How is the housing? is it good to stay outside housing they provide?
I intend to travel on single married status . I guess they give 3 tickets to come back home in a year.

your replies and information will be appreciated.

@kalamani

It all depends on their basic offer but you will have room for negotiation, grade 11 is professional level. Grade 13 + is Sr. Engineer level.
They don't give you any loans for car but they pay you transportation allowance every month.
Sadara Housing for western expats is good they provide furnished housing and yes for married bachelor status you can travel 3 times a year with 3 tickets.
ALL The Best.
