Hi

I've joined this forum as my son is living and studying in the Netherlands.  He is a joint US/UK citizen.

I'm a joint US/Irish citizen resident in the UK for 57 years so I know may way around the UK systems and dealing with the US Consulate  - including sorting my son's nationality, how to vote in US elections....

And I'm quite up on EU law having been working into Brussels for many years.  (I've even represented the UK!)

One big piece of advice: never, ever let the UK Border Agency have any of your original documents.  Send them notarised copies or you could end up being stuck in the UK for months or years and unable to transact basic business, open bank accounts etc.  If you decide to go for UK nationality there are quite cheap local services which will verify your documents and send copies for you.  Don't do anything to lose  US nationality though as the consular services are superb.

Hello klavdiya.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

Thank you for this introduction and the piece of advice.
