Relocating to Siem Reap from PP

Hi,

My name's Sam an I've been living in Phnom Penh for the past three years but would like to relocate to Siem Reap.

I'm looking for good international schools to apply to. I'm an experienced teacher and work at a reputable international school in Phnom Penh teaching 4th grade. Which schools do people recommend in SR? Does anybody teach at a school they'd recommend?

I'm also curious about the cost of renting a one or two bedroom apartment in SR. I've heard it cheaper than here in PP, is that true?

How do you renew your visas in SR? Are there offices there or is everything sent to PP?

Any advice and info would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Sam :-)

You can re-new your visa in Siem Reap in travel agents and they are sent to PP, as for apartments in Siem Reap, there are not as many as in PP of course, you can still obtain apartments for $250-$300 per month, and if you go over the far side of Wat Bo, you can obtain houses for $300 per month.

The real estate market is quite different in Siem Reap then PP, fewer properties with a handful of real estate companies trying to find tenants for them, Siem Reap can be cheaper and more expensive then PP.

Thanks for your help.

Hi,

i agree with previous comment. the rate in Siem Reap might be more expensive or cheaper than the properties in Phnom Penh according to the style and its location. In downtown, the 1 or 2 bedrooms and fully equipped apartment will be at least 300$/month; the price may raise to 750$/month. Whereas just 1 km (or more) away from city  , you may be able to rent cheap price and nice house in green environment about 100$ or 150$/month.

Only Two real international schools here:
1/ISSR - http://www.issr-cambodia.com/ Good education,
2/SRIS - A little more expensive - http://www.schools.ac/965-SIEM-REAP-INT … bodia.html
3/Also a good French school with similar prices - http://www.ecolefr-siemreap.org/

for expat Visa, you can apply from Siem Reap by just let local travel agent work for you. I know Mr. Serey. He is helpful; you can contact him for more details via 093 917 049

Good luck,
:-)

Can somebody tell me what daily life is like in SR.  It's a city of moderate size, right?

Any movies there, western food, how much of an expat community?

Art
