Moving to Furth, Germany in the summer!

Hello everyone,

I'm moving to Germany in the summer as I have accepted a job offer in Furth, near Nuremberg. I'm 21 and from Scotland and have recently graduated in Computer Science from Strathclyde University in Glasgow.

If anyone has any tips or information for me that would be very helpful.

I've got some German friends that stay a few hours away so they can help me with translations and stuff until I properly pick up the language.

Thanks,

Declan.

Hello Declan.

Welcome to Expat.com! :)

So as to make it more visible, your post has been moved to the Nuremberg forum.

Thank you,
Aurélie

Fürth seems to now be looked down upon by people in the region compared to how it was a few decades ago, since much of the industry that was there has gone and a lot of immigrants have moved in. Of course this means the rent is much cheaper than neighboring "stylish" Nürnberg.

I rather like Fürth and have spent many nice hours there. Definitely look into getting a bicycle- there is a great network of bike paths you can access along the river. From there you can be in downtown Nürnberg very easily if you want, or explore the whole region pretty easily. It's a flat area so biking is easy and fun.

in Fürth itself, these are two cozy places for food & drink:

Thanks for your advice!

I seen that's there's a cycle track into Nuremberg? How long does it take?

I've been looking for an apartment in Furth recently and it seems the only decent site for this is immoscout24, can you think of any others?

You mentioned immigrants moving into the area, is this such a bad thing? Are there many English speakers?

Thanks again,

Declan.
