May I recommend you to find a job before moving to Thailand since it will take you lot of time to find a job here, not easy for foreigners.
For accommodation, you can do your search on website with real estate agent to save time and you can find location and its facilities which meet your need. However, I recommend you to rent  a condo better than apartment because with condo you can pay the utilities directly to the government which save you a lot. Do you have any idea with your visa yet or I can support
