Good afternoon,
We plan on making a scouting trip to Coastal Ecuador for the month of August 2012. The purpose of the scout is to assess the area and potential purchase a retirement home for bout 50-60k.
We will be traveling with my daughter who will be 1.5 years old at that time.
Can someone suggest a place to stay in the Salinas, Manta or other coastal area to act as out base while there? We would like to only make day trips to view areas as we do have a young child.
Also can you suggest a good way of transportation to get from the Guayaquil airport to that area? Should we rent a car there and drive or just rent once in the desired location that we will be staying?
We will want a one or two bedroom rental. Can you give us an idea of the price range for those type of rental accommodations for the time we will be there?
Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.

Go to the expatexchange.com site. They have quite a few people who live on the coast that monitor the site, and can probably help you out.
