I am in talks with a prospective Employer in Dar Es Salaam. Would like to know the following.


A General Salary Structures for Expat Employees (Management Cadre)
- What is the average Salary for the Management Cadre?
- Base Allowance
- Accomodation Allowance
- Travel Allowance
- Schooling Allowance for Children
- Medical Allowances (family of 4)
- Fuel Allowance
- Whether Car / any other automobile is provided as part of salary package
- Home Travel Allowance (expect this for at least once in a year, for the family?)
- Paid Leave (Days)
- Provident Fund / Any other Funds
- Insurance Allowance
- Any other Allowances


B Cost of Living
- Cost of Rentals (is this provided by the Company)
- Cost of Electricity, Gas, Water
- Transport Costs (within City by Car / Public Transport (bus, train, etc))
- Cost of Food (Vegetarian)
- Entertaiment (Movies, Internet, Cable TV, etc)
- Cost of Medicals (In-patient and Out-patient)
- Cost of Fuel (Petrol / Diesel)
- Cost of owning a Car - is it advisable in the first place?
- Cost of Education
- Cost of Eating out (Vegetarian)
- Any other Costs

Hello Christine

I am planning on moving to TZ soon fromt he USA.  How is the cost of living? is $4,000 per month a good salary? what about taxes how much is income tax? i have two kids how are the primary schools?  Are they upto standard? how about my spouse it is easy to find a job?  I have been given housing allowance for 2 years and a car allowance.  Your quick response will be greatly appreciated .
