Serious Medical Conditions

By the way - thanks to all of you who have responded to previous questions I've posted regarding health insurance and health care in Ecuador.

I have another & hope that this one prompts the same amount of interest.

Here goes - I understand that routine health care is very affordable and accessible.  This post is directed more at the quality of services and physicians - especially as it relates to serious conditions - say heart disease/attack, stroke, cancer or the like.  I would love to hear from anyone who has first hand information regarding this issue.

Thanks to all.

A fellow colleague suffered a heart attack recently and needed to be resuscitated twice.  In the end he required a series of operations to install stints (7 in total)  From all reports everything went well and he is recovering in his native Brazil.
Others I know have used the local medical system to diagnose issues and then returned home to have them dealt with.  MRI's cost $75.00 and can take you almost right away.  The system is excellent here and the equipment is very modern.  Hope this helps.
