Birocracy while looking for a job

What do I need to do?

I read to get the social security ID, Police Conduct certificate? and to register with the E.T.C. Can somebody explain the procedure , how, when and where to go? I tried google search and some blogs that are directed from here, but they're not clear to me...

I am already on Malta and sending my CV all around the net to every company, that needs an IT guy. )

p.s.:I'm from EU, so I don't need a work visa. I know that

the social security number can be obtained simply by presenting your self and your id card at the nearest job centre - yuo do not need to have a job to get one.

Not sure that you need a police conduct cert now - i think that was necessary when work permits were reqd...it may stil be a requirement if you are to be working in the financial sector.

Dont just rely on sending cvs to all and sundry as they often get ignored - put yourself out and about a bit go and talk to companies. get your self put on the books of employment agencies too.
