The flight which your going to board have a customer support service call them and ask what to carry what no to carry. movies, videos allowed etc etc your question will be answered clearly by them.

I travel in and out of Saudi at least every couple of weeks and I have never been asked to turn my lap top on

I suggest possessing your "personal" laptop, and also possessing your official business laptop, which of course won't contain anything of a personal nature. Perhaps your company can issue you a laptop for company use.  Another alternative is to buy an external hard-drive and copy everything remotely personal on to it, then delete those files from the laptop.  Chances are remote that you will get checked at the airport, but it DOES happen. A co-worker of mine was asked to turn on his laptop for the Customs, in Jeddah, once, and the official kept it for 5 minutes, looking through it and making him stand back. Finally he was given the laptop back and allowed to proceed.  If you google up this topic, you'll see lots of horror stories of confiscated laptops in Saudi airports, though considering the millions who pass through KSA airports each day, it's a tiny percentage.

You can use skydrive or google cloud to load important stuff, once in saudia it can be downloaded to PC again.

Look, it unless you have porn or something that may be concieved as being inappropriate or explicit you will have no issues. The possibility of them actually checking your laptop is slim to none anyway. Neither I or anyone I have met here have ever seen or heard of anyones phones or laptops being searched or confiscated. It is a possibility but it is very low. So I really wouldn't concern myself over it unless as I say you have something compromising on there in which case move it just for peace of mind.
