Business: Run a small hotel

Well, here it goes.....

My wife and I are seriously contemplating moving from Vancouver Island BC, Canada to Nicaragua. My only concern is that she has cancer and will not be able to become a resident due to her health issue.
We are both BC Government emplyee's and need out of this rat race of woking to retire. We both would love to run a business down there as she is a licenced/certified scuba diver and me with only instructing Use of Force instructor and other tactical requirements with our lovely prison system, for fellow officers and new recruites. My dream would to run a small hotel but with so many I really dont know if it would be all that smart.
Any thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated.
