The best hotel in Tripoli is Sara Guardian Hotel: http://www.saraguardianhotel.com/

It's a small hotel (more like guest house) with a very homely feel and the owner Ali is a treasure. We used to place our guests in various other hotels in Tripoli (Bab il Bahr, Zumit, Kibeer etc) and none have been happier than when staying in Sara. Nothing is too much to ask for there and they treat you as if you are family. Guests often socialise together (great if you're alone here) and it's a good place to make business contacts.

I definitely recommend this hotel over any!

Emad, I recently met someone staying at the Radisson Blu and he was none too happy with the service there. Unfortunately he didn't want to give details... in fact he said he was too traumatised to discuss it :D Hopefully whatever problems he faced were an isolated case ....

hubby and I are thinking of a romantic one night away here in Tripoli (we'll bring our own suds so no need to hit Malta) besides we'll be leaving daughter with a friend. Celebrate my b'day.

Recommendations of nice place to stay?  I saw something about a small boutique type hotel near arch in the medina. Then there's always the corinth, but am not in mood to see a bunch of business travellers.

Hi Justice,

I believe the boutique hotel near the arch is called Al Khan.  I am not sure about contact details but the address I have found is Arabaa Arsat Street.  Hope that may help a wee bit.  Has been reviewed once on TripAdvisor and given either a 2/5 or 3/5 depending on where you look though some fellow on the Lonely Planet forum said it was quite nice.

Hi Hilton,
Thanks for your reply.
I was just scared Lipgloss's comment, that someone was "traumatised" even to discuss his impressions about the Radisson Blu. Have you ever stay there? Is that a really high-speed internet? Thanks,
