How do you make friends when you don't even know how to start??

Hello people..

I've been in Jakarta for quite a while now, yet still alone by myself.. pathetic as it might sound..:(
I'm craving for those moments where you got friends on every corner.. sadly, now its like.. I'll have to start over again...

My office is in Mega Kuningan and at the moment, I stay in Thamrin area. I'm going to move out to a different residence in a couple of weeks. Since the office will arrange everything, I have no idea where I might end up to.:blink:

I would love to hang out with you guys.. especially those who are just as lost as me..

I'm into shopping & eating (did i say that out loud??)... Well, I guess this city have much more to offer... right??:cheers:

p/s: Is this even a correct way to make an introduction??:unsure

hello robotman,

welcome to jakarta... your introduction is great for me .... I believe you will find your friends soon.

I live in Kuningan area, near your office, but going to move to other area this week... Wish I can get some friends in my new area too....

Hello everybody here, Im not an expat, Im indonesian, I lived at Halim Perdana Kusuma east jakarta, pls contact me if u need friend, i would like to be friend to u.

May all of U always happy n well.

Awww..... this is nice..
Thanks for the warm welcome...

@Catur
Kuningan area tends to be a hell of traffic these days...:nothappy:

@ani devi
I'd love to have Indonesian friends... ;)

Hi Robotman,

Pls free feel to contact me, I'd love too to meet U.

Best wishes,

that's a very unique question. I am in jakarta too, n i don't know how to introduce myself?

@Robotman - Hope you will make friends soon as it can be boring to be by yourself. I think you made a good introduction and as you can see, you have people replying and this is a good way to start.

The good thing about this site is that you can meet people from all over the world.

Welcome to Expat.com by the way..  :)

Good luck. :cheers:
Jaz

@susisari - just introduce yourself like how Robotman has done. :)
As i mentioned in this thread, you can meet people from all over the world. One way to do this is by joining in the discussions.

Hope you will make lots of friends in Jakarta and other parts of the world. :D

Good luck

Jaz :cool:

@jazzy851
you are absolutely right!! Thanks for the reply.. :D

I'm brushing up my bahasa indonesia as well... :P
Though my mother tongue is malay, i found it difficult to converse with the locals as they tend to use slang n speak faster than what my brain could compile it..:rolleyes:

@champagne_socialist
Well... my Japanese are enough to get me survive in my line of work..
Not that fluent if thats what u're asking.. n certainly not the one you can call a 'sensei'... :lol:

Well, I work with Japanese firm, so I do hear the language on daily basis.

Anyway, if you fancy some common conversational phrase, then we're good to go!:cool:

Way to go. Only 2 days ago Robotman was alone, now the circle of friends is getting bigger. I see there's a friendship community forming here. :)

All the best

Jaz :cool:

@jazzy851
Absolutely fantastic!!
Couldn't be happier...
This forum sure is something... :top:

It's like 1.30am... yet i'm still typing... am i a bat or what??:rolleyes:

@Robotman - well you can be a bat or you can be a night owl :lol:

Hello,

are u japanese? are u playing Tennis? PM me we might can meet for Tennis (we were looking for match) perhaps I have some of japanese and others friend u might interested to meet.

talk soon

Ms.andarina

Why don't you give these places a look: benhil, the area behind wtc as well as slipi? They're not too far from your work place and aren't quite high traffic areas if you use alternative roads.

@msandarina
Hi.. No, i'm Malaysian working in Japanese firm. And.. No, I don't play tennis... And.. Yes, my colleague were Japanese.. But most of them are over 40yrs old.. 😓 i dont think they play anything except golf.
Nonetheless, i'll be happy to hang out....:D

@themel
If i'm not mistaken, there's an apartment called  Taman Sari Sudirman around there right? There's a construction of new flyover around that area. I'll check it. :) thanks for the heads up. :thanks:

I'm not sure of that one but if there's construction going on, I suggest you do not take it. It could be madness when they suka suka close the road or get more of their share :)

it is really nice, get to meet new friends. :D hope this meet and greet come reality.

Hi,

Feeding the topic... hehe...
I am Brazilian and lived in the USA for 12 years... I have a friend from England who is a private teacher like me... and that was one of the ways we ended up starting to know people... But my friend was searching for a place to leave on blogs, and there was where he founded most of his students... some even traveled with him... By the way, I read up here that somebody is in Kelapa Gading as well?
