Hi everybody;
Does anyone know the process of getting a driver's license (permit) in the Maldives for a foreigner? What are the pre- requisites? Do they have exams that is written in English? How much will it cost and how long it will take?

hi pinoy,
i am not too sure about this one, but if you do have a driving license from Philipines it shall not be a huge task. if you pay a visit to ministry of transport and civil avation, they would help you out. i assume it shall not take more than 2 weeks to obtain one.

Thanks mooch! I'm already a holder of a valid Philippines Driver's License and make i authenticated by our foreign ministry. I will surely make my way to the transport ministry soon.
Surely i will share my experience on the requirements and processes undertaken for the benefits of everybody who needs info.

Below are the documents needed to apply for the foreigners driving license:
For Driving test
- LL1 form (application form, you can have it from their
office or download it from http://www.transport.gov.mv/src.php?page=mrtforms
- One passport size photo
- Work Visa Card original and copy
- Foreign License card original and copy
- Passport original and copy
- Letter of authenticity of license card from issued
authority /government
After completing driving test
- One passport size photo
- Driving exam passed result slip
- MRF250/-
- A revenue stamp (MRF50/-)
