Copy of USA passport

I am a american citizen...born here...raised here..whatever. My wife is german and I need a certified copy of my usa passport to send to the german government to receive a residence permit. Can someone help me find information on this?

Are you sure you got that correct? A certified copy of a passport? Why not just get a passport from your nearest US embassy and take that to the Germans?
I've never heard of a certified copy of a passport, you either photocopy the relevant pages or you show them your passport.
Surely having a certified copy would mean you had two copies of the same document, this goes against the whole point of having a passport.
