I will be living in pattaya from next month, I work in oil industry on a 28/28 rotation. Do I need visa to live in Thailand? And I am liable to pay tax in Thailand?

Being from the UK you can enter Thailand visa exempt and stay for 30 days if arrival by air and 15 days if land crossing.
Have your money deposited in bank other than Thailand and you should not have a problem. I would also keep mouth shut about your work situation and living in Thailand.
