Safe areas / non safe areas near Zurich

ca. 20 km from Zurich. Which areas are unsafe? Or is there some family friendly areas especially?
We have maybe our companies behind us when we search the accommodation for rent. But still we want to know more about these areas. Some small villages, where rent is not higher than normal. Not any luxus areas,/ "bad" areas if I can say like this. We have small child so thatŽs why we want safe area.

Switzerland is generally a safe country. There are no real "bad areas". I think it is a good idea to search a bit outside of Zurich. This may save you quite some money.
The area at the borders of Lake Zurich is well known for its high prices - you pay for the (indeed: lovely) view over the lake. Winterthur, about 20 minutes by train north-east of Zurich, is a city that should be much cheaper. Smaller towns: Baden (west of Zurich) is charming, Bülach (ca 30 min by train north) is also possible but check the position to Zurich Airport (noise!)

Public transport is excellent in Switzerland, it may be worth to search for a place with good public transport connections. Check timetables at the website of the national rail operator, www.sbb.ch - also includes timetables of all other rail, bus, tram, ship operators.
