Getting married in Congo

Hi all,

We invite all the ones who got married in Congo or who are about to get married in Congo to participate in this thread :)

What are the formalities to get married in Congo? Is it the same for a couple of foreigners of for a mixed couple (between a foreigner and a native of Congo)?

Are the procedures complicated?

How long does it take to carry out all the formalities?

Dear All,

Marriage is not a complicated issue in Congo..........
But before registering your marriage you have to go through a traditional marriage if your partner is local one ............
Documents needed to registered is only your passport copy or identity copy for locals
Fillup the forms in the Mayor office and date will be given to you ...........go on that date with 2 couples for witness and Mayor will ask both of you to know your willingness towards this marriage....ok and he will declared you as husband and wife.........
Cost also is very cheap 100 $ to 200 $ is enough
